My family and I put together this video as part of an effort to raise awareness of the many ways that food insecurity effects every community. Click image to watch.
FUNDRAISING AND VOLUNTEER WORK
Founder and Co-Leader, JOINJACOB Triathlon & Fundraising Team, benefiting Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, 2012 – present
Began competing in triathlons and fundraising for local Foodbank at age eight. Founded a team and have led over 100 triathletes (students and their parents) through their first full triathlon. Mission of JOINJACOB Triathlon Team is to raise awareness of hunger issues facing children. Our team has raised over $125,000 for our local Foodbank since 2012, providing one million meals to people facing food insecurity.
Co-Founder and Co-Leader, Saturday Family Day Volunteer Program, Foodbank of Santa Barbara Co., 2014 - present
Manage and lead, with my brother, a volunteer program for elementary, junior high and high school students and their friends and families. Share education on hunger issues facing children and inspire kids to get involved and help their community. One Saturday a month, our volunteers help the Foodbank with sorting and crating fresh produce and dry goods. Our program alone has introduced over 1,800 adult and 1,500 child volunteers to the Foodbank where we have processed over 900,000 pounds of food during Saturday Family Days since 2014.
